The International Choral Festival ‘Queen of the Adriatic Sea’ is a competitive event that takes place in Cattolica and in some wonderful places of Romagna Region. It is organized once a year and its program consists of three days, in MAY.

 

The festival programme includes the Competition at the magnificent Cattolica Queen’s Theatre (Teatro della Regina), a concert at the historic Cathedral of St. Leo, as well as a common service to be sung at the Catholic Church. Not only concerts but also the opportunity to stay on the Adriatic Coast, in particular on the beach of Cattolica, renowned throughout the world for its fine sand and for the quality of its waters that has made it possible, for the seventeenth time, the assignment of the blue flag.

 

The music programme is completely free, there are not compulsory pieces requested and there is no preclusion for periods and genres.

 

The variety of places selected for the performances, the numerous events and the extremely rich repertoire make this Festival not only one of the most spectacular international choral festivals but also a unique opportunity of mutual and fruitful exchange between different musical cultures.

Program of the QUEEN OF THE ADRIATIC SEA Choral Competition - VOLENDO VIAGGI

The participation to the ‘Queen of Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition’ includes, for each choir, a competition at the ‘Queen’s Theatre’ (Teatro della Regina) in Cattolica; a concert of about 10 minutes in the San Leo Cathedral (for the first 8 choirs that will send the application); for the first 4 choirs interested to this option, a sung Mass, with a common repertoire, in a church in Rimini or Cattolica. A team of experts in choral music (the jury) will listen to your performance in the theatre and will award the choirs with diplomas (gold, silver or bronze) and will be at your disposal to give you  some advices to improve the technique and the interpretation of your choir. The choir with the highest score at the final competition (Grand Prix) will get the ‘Grand Prix Prize’ consisting of a beautiful trophy made on purpose for the competition.

Repertoires for the competition and for the concert:

- Categories ‘Adult’s Choirs‘ (mixed and equal voices) and ‘Children’s and Youth Choirs‘: any choral repertoire, sacred, secular, folk, gospel, lasting not less than 11 and not more than 15 minutes. ‘A cappella’ or with piano or typical instruments accompaniment. The piano will be present on the stage
– Category ‘Grand Prix‘ (the first and the runner up choirs in each of the 2 previous categories): any choral repertoire, sacred, secular, folk, gospel, lasting not less than 11 and not more than 15 minutes, different from that already performed in the preliminar category. ‘A cappella’ or with piano or typical instruments accompaniment. The piano will be present on the stage.
– San Leo Cathedral: only sacred repertoire, maximum 10 minutes

Fees of QUEEN OF THE ADRIATIC SEA Choir Competition

FESTIVAL FEES

A registration fees of 100 Euros per choir/ensemble and category has to be paid for the participation at the Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition Competition. The participation to a non competitive concert is also included in the registration fee (for the first 8 choirs). The registration fee must be made payable to Musicaficta in full, soon after the choir has been accepted by the Committee, by bank transfer or by PayPal. Any banking costs that arise must be paid by the registrant. In case a choir cancels its participation, the registration fee will not be refunded. In the unlikely event of cancellation of the Competition by the organizers, fees will be refunded in full.

Event Packages: For organizational reasons and to ensure ideal conditions, a participation in the event is possible only if the event package, including accommodation bookings, are made through Volendo Viaggi or other authorized Agency by Musicaficta. This is an exclusive condition and integral part of the conditions for participation and there is no exception to this rule. All included services and rates of the event package are described in the agency offer sent to the requesting choir. The purchase of an accommodation package is three (3) nights minimum. The package includes hotel accommodation in B&B, half board or full board, the entrance to all the events organized during the event (concerts, competitions) and the possibility to take advantage of all the discounts offered by our partners (museums, leisure parks, restaurants…) The costs due to the authorized agencies for the event package are due on the dates indicated on the invoice. Banking information is also located on the invoice. We would like to draw your attention expressly to the fact that participation in the event is only possible if the costs due have been received net and by the last deadline. Delay in payments may affect the benefits of your participation. Any costs incurred due to such action are to be borne by the group. To ask the price of your package please go to this page.

Travel Expenses

The journey to the event including the travel expenses is responsibility of the choir members and additional persons. Sightseeing excursions aside from the event and airport transfers are not inclusive and must be booked separately.

Language of Correspondence

Italian and English are the only languages that are reflected on official documents. This includes, but is not limited to, the Official Participant Information, travel documents such as schedule and vouchers as well as invoices. These are all legally binding. Information by phone, Skype or email are available in the following languages: Italian, English and Russian.

Please make sure that your choir is accompanied by at least one Italian or English speaking person who can assist you with translation during the event.
